Tooth Extractions

Dr. Doris Doleyres and our team at Mercy Dental want to help you maintain a healthy, beautiful smile for a lifetime. If possible, we will do everything we can to save your natural teeth with general dentistry. Root canal therapy, dental crowns and other restorative methods can be used to save most infected or damaged teeth. But there are times when it is necessary to remove unhealthy or severely damaged teeth. When you need a tooth extraction, we offer a soothing atmosphere and a highly experienced team to perform your procedure.

Removing a diseased or broken tooth can be stressful, but we make it as quick and comfortable as possible. Dr. Doleyres will carefully assess the tooth and determine the best way to quickly remove the tooth without damaging other teeth or causing you pain. Most teeth can be removed in just a few minutes. Sedation is not usually required; many people only use local anesthesia for the procedure. However, if you have anxiety, we do offer sedation options to help you relax during your tooth extraction.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the most common tooth removed at an early age. They arrive late and are often the first permanent teeth to be lost. The reason is due to the many issues these large molars can cause. They can put pressure on the other teeth causing misalignment. Sometimes they become impacted or infected and need to be removed.

When wisdom teeth pose a risk to you or your teen’s oral health, Dr. Doleyres may suggest removal of one or all the molars. If all four are removed at one time, sedation is usually used to ensure the procedure goes quickly and without any issues.

After a tooth is removed, the gums must heal and are usually sore for a few days after the procedure. Our team will give you detailed instructions on how to care for your gums to accelerate healing and reduce any discomfort.

If you have a broken tooth that needs extraction or wisdom teeth that are beginning to cause problems for your college student, contact Mercy Dental today. We offer gentle tooth removal with sedation available.
